Forum Against Counterfeit
Profile of FAC – Africa
Forum Against Counterfeiting (FAC), is a non-governmental, not-for-profit coalition which was formed to champion the strengthening the rule of law initiative with special bias for anti-counterfeiting efforts by organizing workshops for regulators, law officers, judicial officers, as well as educating the general public.
Substandard and falsified medical products is currently a rife issue in our society as the members of the public are unwittingly deceived into using the drugs which may have the regulators authorization but unfortunately does not meet its requisite specifications.
There have been efforts to combat the activities of these unscrupulous and fraudulent manufacturers of these substandard medical products in the past, but their nefarious activities continue to wreak havoc on the health sectors, as substandard and falsified medical products apart from causing loss of lives also erode confidence of the public in medicine, health care providers and health system as whole. The fight against counterfeit drugs which FAC is engaged in, cannot record expected successes without building strong institutions which are able to tackle this menace.
